The Riverina district in SW NSW is one of Australia’s richest agricultural regions and known as the ‘Food Basket of Australia’. The vast fertile plains, ideal climate and Murrumbidgee Irrigation Scheme (182 000 ha) produce 90 % of NSW citrus, 80% of NSW wine grapes and over 25% of NSW fruit/vegetables as well as rice and wool.
